Safety Resources

Resources for Students, Staff and Faculty in Crisis. This includes help lines and emergency contacts  for critical incidents.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) provides policing to the UBC Okanagan campus community. For a police emergency, call 911. For non-emergency issues call 250.762.3300.

Located just outside the Student Services Centre building, Campus Security provides 24-hour assistance seven days a week. Call 250.807.8111 if you have a safety concern or an emergency situation.

Safewalk is a free foot patrol service provided by your Students’ union, the UBCSUO. Two-person co-ed teams will meet you and accompany you anywhere on campus to make sure you get there safely.

To arrange a safewalk, call 250.807.8076 or stop by the UBCSUO office at SSC 012C. You may also use a campus security phone or contact campus security for assistance.

If you see walkers around campus and you’d like them to accompany you, stop and ask! It’s not a bother, we promise. We’re here because we want to help.

The safety and comfort of everyone on campus is important – that’s why we’re here. Keep an eye out for signature jackets with the flashlight logo, and let your walk be with us!

Not just for emergencies, blue phones are located at various locations around campus. They provide you with direct phone access to Campus Security 24 hours a day. For safety concerns and general assistance (including directions), pick up the phone and Campus Security will answer your call. For example, you may want to call campus security if you feel unsure or unsafe walking across campus at night.
